Getting the flu or a cold is not fun, but the idea of contracting COVID is that much scarier and stressful. During a pandemic with much fear and uncertainty, our immune systems undergo extra duress on top of the regular, daily stressors from life. With additional stress added to our plate, this can compromise our ability to ward off illnesses. Undeniably, if there was ever a more crucial time to boost your immunity, it is now. In order to accomplish this, it is vital to maintain a strong immune system, from the inside out. But, how do we do it? Everyone has different techniques and in no way is this medical advice.. but from personal experience that has brought incredible results, it is my opinion that the best line of defense is to make the most of your body’s potential by focusing on stress relief and diet.
Stress can wreak havoc on your body; running deeper than the emotions of worry or sadness. That stress can greatly impact your ability to stay healthy, so it’s very important to meditate, exercise, practice yoga or perform activities that simply make you feel happy. Studies show that accessing your creative side (including activities such as sketching, writing or listening to music) can also provide a source of relief and may improve your overall stress levels.
Since certain diets can sometimes prove to be harsh or extreme, consider consuming an easier less risky alternative like consuming more super-foods such as garlic, ginger or apple cider vinegar. These super-foods include nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants that make them an excellent immunity booster. This recipe is a home made tonic that gives me an instant boost when I feel I may have been compromised. It may taste more savory than sweet, but this concoction will do the trick whenever your immune system is in need of strengthening.
